ABOUT JEFF COOK
Jeff's father instilled in him a commitment to public safety and fire protection from a young age. With those values in his heart and soul, Jeff has dedicated his entire career to fire fighting and supporting fire department community initiatives to benefit the Houston area.
A 15-year veteran of the Houston Fire Department, Jeff started at Station 51 as a Fire Fighter. After being promoted to Engineer/Operator, Jeff was assigned to Medic 62. Later, he was promoted to Captain and served at the Val Jahnke Training Facility before transferring back to Station 51.
Since 1993, Jeff has co-produced and promoted the Houston Fire Fighter Calendar to help generate funds for worthy causes. These efforts have armed Jeff with public relations perspectives and skills that will be of value in promoting the Union's agenda. He also volunteers every year at a camp for young burn victims.
Jeff was elected twice as a Local 341 director representing the Union in Austin and Washington, D.C. He was instrumental in helping pass the Fair Labor Standards Act legislation, which eliminated unfair pay practices for EMTs and Paramedics. Jeff also served as a media relations point person for Local 341, helping to manage and protect Fire Fighters' image and reputation. Through his work and community efforts, Jeff has built strong relationships with elected officials and dignitaries of both political parties, and local media representatives.
Jeff is married and lives in Spring with his wife Lori.
