Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw Focusing on Israel as Emerging Market for Alternative Energy and Technology Innovation

October 12, 2006 (HOUSTON, TX)Houston attorneys at the international law firm Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP see increasing opportunities for
Israel and Texas to work together on energy and technology fronts. Israel already represents a prominent player in the global technology
industry and now is home to more than 100 companies engaged in developing technologies related to the alternative and renewable energy
sector.
We are excited about the future for growth between Texas and Israel businesses and with our global footprint, are eager to help those
relationships grow. Our experience in Israel coupled with our global technology practice, that also includes biotech, gives us the ability
to react quickly and efficienty to our clients needs in these areas stated David Ronn, co-head of the firms Israel Group.
The Houston office of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw is sponsoring an alternative and renewable energy conference taking place November 8 in Tel
Aviv, Israel. The conference is being coordinated by the Bird Foundation as part of the Prime Ministers Conference for Export &
International Cooperation. David Ronn and Peter del Vecchio, both partners in Mayer Browns Corporate and Energy Practice Group, will be
speaking at the conference. More than 300 attendees, including senior Israeli government officials, top energy company managers, investors,
venture capital firm representatives and members of foreign delegations are expected to participate in the event.
Mr. Ronn also is serving on a panel covering Technology and Applications at the Consular Forum 2006 on Friday, October 7 at the University
of Houston Hilton. The Forum hosts a series of events each year, culminating with a white tie Consular Ball, to honor a particular country
and the Consular Corps.
This years Forum honors Israel as a technologically advanced market economy with substantial government participation. The conference
will focus on leading exports of high-technology equipment applicable to many Houston market sectors.
Mr. Ronn also was recently elected to the national Board of Directors of the American Technion Society, which serves as the leading American
organization promoting education in science and technology as well as scientific innovation and entrepreneurship in Israel.
The ATS supports the efforts of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel's premier science and technology university and one of
the major research centers in the world. The ATS is a national organization with 17 offices and 20,000 members. Ronn, who is 44 years old,
is the youngest member of the board.
