Competition Barista Joins Cuvée Coffee as Specialty Coffee Roaster and Trainer
- Clancy Rose moves from independent coffee house to its coffee roaster -
March 19, 2008 (HOUSTON, TX)...Accomplished barista Clancy Rose recently transitioned from making espresso and coffee drinks at an Austin independent
coffee house customer of Cuvée Coffee to working for the Spring-based company as a roaster and barista trainer.
Rose, the 2007 South Central Regional Barista Competition runner-up, previously worked as a barista at Caffe Medici, an espresso and coffee house located
in the Clarksville neighborhood of Austin. Prior, Rose served as assistant manager for Texas EXpresso in the University of Texas Alumni Center. Both
entities are customers of Cuvée Coffee.
During his tenure at both coffee shops, Rose participated in several barista jams, at which specialty coffee and espresso industry experts and baristas
gather, exchange information, compete in challenges, and consume massive amounts of coffee. Some of those events were sponsored by Cuvee Coffee. Rose also
provided freelance barista training and produced online barista training videos.
Rose regularly interacted with Mike McKim, president of Cuvée Coffee through his work, competitions, and training services and became interested in
learning the other side of the business handled by Cuvée Coffee.
“I have been using Cuvée Coffee my entire coffee career and Mike taught me a lot of what I know about producing quality, sustainable coffee,” said Rose.
“Working for Cuvée Coffee gives me an opportunity to learn the other aspects of the specialty coffee industry while continuing my training and competition
activities.”
Rose and others at Cuvée Coffee provide twice monthly training seminars for budding coffee entrepreneurs and home enthusiasts. Rose also is scheduled to
participate in several barista competitions in 2008, including the United States Barista Championship and The Ultimate Barista Challenge at the Southwest
Foodservice Expo.
