In an earlier blog column, I wrote about a seemingly boring franchise concept – a foundation repair business (I know, YAWN, right?) – that was turned on its head through simple, focused and buzzworthy branding.
Well, after I sang the company’s praises, I received a package in the mail with a shirt, stickers, keychains and an autographed portrait of the organization’s mascot, Mr. Happy Crack, along with a note that said “Flattery gets you everywhere.” The Crack Team actually thanks those who help further its message and interests – imagine that.
Are you missing out on an opportunity to turn your audience into advocates, even raging fans? And when they provide you with free, valuable word-of-mouth referrals, do you thank them and demonstrate your appreciation. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve told about The Crack Team. I don’t know if they have an external PR, marketing and/or advertising partner, but that is the type of client I dream about. Doing well by doing good. Keep up the stellar work.
